Dr. Rajib Chakraborty
Dr. Rajib Chakraborty (b. 1974) is a linguist by profession and an archivist by passion. He earned his
MA in Linguistics from Calcutta University and Ph.D. in Culture Studies from Visva Bharati. Currently
he is engaged as a Linguist at the Society for Natural Language Technology Research (SNLTR), Kolkata
under the aegis of Department of Information Technology and Electronics, Government of West
Bengal. He is also associated with the Institute of Language Studies and Research (ILSR), Kolkata as
an adjunct faculty. Rajib started his career as a linguist (2001-2004) at the Central Institute of Indian
Languages, Mysore, the premier language institute in India. He also taught at the Centre for
Endangered Languages (CFEL), Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan (2015-2017). He regularly contributes
research articles to various academic journals. Till date he has published over 100 research articles,
book chapters. He was the Associate Editor of Bangla Academy Pramita Bangla Bhashar Byakaran
(Bangla Academy, Dhaka) and Bangla Academy Pramita Bangla Byavaharik Byakaran (Bangla
Academy, Dhaka). He is a life member of the Linguistic Society of India, Bangiya Sahitya Parishat
(Kolkata). He is a passionate record collector and musician trained in North Indian Classical Music. He
lives in Kolkata with his family. He is the Editor of the Bengali monthly journal SRINVANTU, published
from Sri Aurobindo Bhavan, Kolkata.
